Quotations are hereby invited for the appointment of a service provider for the provision of porter services for Northdale Hospital – 01/02/2025 to 30/04/2025. Scope: a. Responsibilities of the service provider: • Provision of twelve (12) staff members" day shift including of supervisor and 6 (six) night shift staff members including of the supervisor to perform porter services in the wards and departments from 06:00 to 18:00 and 18:00 to 06:00 respectively (during weekends only six staff members are required for both day and night meaning 6 days shift and 6 nights shifts); • There should be appointed supervisor who will be part of staff compliment that will ensure proper service delivery, staff supervising and adherence to set standards; • Porters will be allocated to different service areas and not in the central area; • Once a week the company senior representative must conduct a site visit; • Replacement of staff to cover leaves and emergencies is the responsibility of the awarded service provider; • Ensure that all porter’s staff are provided with uniforms for easy identification; • Responsible for any loss and damage due to theft by their staff members; • Local community members must be given a priority during employment of the staff. b. Main duties of porters: • Transport patients in wheelchairs and stretchers to the respective wards and departments; • Load corpse on the stretcher and transport to the Mortuary accompanied by the Nurse; • Transport specimen from the wards to the laboratory and from laboratory to wards; • Escort patients to the wards and diagnostic department; • Clean and report faulty wheelchairs and stretchers to supervisor; • Return wheelchairs and stretchers to the respective ward or department after transportation of patients; • Collect all wheelchairs and stretchers and return to respective wards and departments at the end of the shift; • Assisting receiving of the patients by watching front door for arrivals using wheelchair or stretchers or carrying it when necessary; • Assist with ambulance stretchers; • Assist with transportation of babies in incubators only when accompanied by a nurse; • To assist with transport of medical equipment; • Notify and sign the register at reception when leaving porters desk; • Responsible for patient medical documents (OPD Charts, X-Ray etc), during transit; • Potters to collect reports daily at 17:00 and 05:00 from wards and other departments; • At all times be neatly and appropriately dressed on full uniform and IF badges; • At all times be courteous and polite to staff patients, visitors, doctors and patient confidentiality etc; • Transport food trollies from the main kitchen and various wards when need arise; • Under no condition to participate in the any form of the strike action within the institution NB: Local community members must be given priority during the employment.
