Quotations are hereby invited for the following: Appointment of a service provider to provide bacteria analysis services for the Council for Geoscience for a period of (three) 3 years as per specifications. Scope: An up-scaled passive treatment system was implemented in Carolina, Mpumalanga as part of a mission to identify befitting long-term and cost-effective mine water management strategies in South Africa. The system uses sulphate-reducing bacteria (SRB) to convert sulphate to sulphide and generates additional alkalinity as part of the treatment process. A bacterial analysis is necessary to assess bacterial activity in the system. The analysis will be carried out on a quarterly basis for a period of 3 years. The RFQ is to procure external Laboratory Services for bacterial analysis for the following: • Sampling, characterization and speciation of microbes in water and slurry; • Quantification of SRB in water and slurry.
