Information is hereby requested for Qualifications for Private Sector Partnership for Transnet’s Fibre Optic Network and Optical Transport Network. Scope: Transnet wishes to attract a strategic equity partner from the private sector to participate in the Project to manage and operate the Fibre Optic Network and Optical Transport Network infrastructure to achieve the following objectives: • Revenue generation for Transnet’s spare capacity, including fibre backhaul and last mile connectivity; • Security of supply for optimal connectivity for Transnet, as well the communities in which Transnet operates; • Funding to modernize the infrastructure by way of upgrading the end-of-life Fibre Optic Network cable segments, increase the Optical Transport Network capacity and introduce orchestration capability; • Employ and apply industry telecommunications expertise to improve operational support and improve manageability with automated functionality and; • Improve financial efficiency by leveraging economies of scale from skilled resources, procurement and ongoing maintenance and support perspective.
